About Christian Wakeford

Christian Wakeford is the Conservative MP for Bury South.

He was educated at both Lancaster University and the Open University earning degrees in Politics and Chemistry.

Before entering Parliament in 2019, Christian worked in the communication and insurance sectors. He was also Leader of the Conservative Group on Pendle Borough Council and a Lancashire County Councillor.

Christian has a strong belief in public service and giving back to his community and has previously volunteered as a youth worker at his local church and as a school governor.

He has a particular personal interest in education and has campaigned for a new High School for Radcliffe and to improve school standards and funding across Bury South.

Outside of politics Christian is married to Alexandra and has a young daughter. He has several hobbies including football and rugby union and is a keen fan of real ale.
